COVID-19 panic closes Washington tribal, New Mexico and Midwestern Casinos

Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 worldwide, a lot of casinos in New Mexico, Midwestern, and Washington were officially shut down to deal with the disease. Las Vegas is empty of tourists for over a month now.

On Tuesday, Laguna Development Corp (LDC) announced the closure of three New Mexico tribal casinos to prevent the spread and outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic. Three LDC-owned casinos include Dancing Eagle Casino, Route 66 Casino, and Casino Xpress.

The official closure policy is enforced at 4 am on Wednesday. The expected closing time is about 30 days. However, LDC Chief of Sales and Marketing Skip Sayre said this time could be adjusted based on the actual conditions of the disease. Therefore, at this time, nothing is guaranteed.

It is known that up to the time of the order of closure, no cases of casino customers or employees were positive for COVID-19. During the break, LDC also pledged to pay full salaries for its employees. Moreover, medical insurance will be paid for the first 30 days.

When facing the complicated developments of the COVIS-19 epidemic, most commercial services, as well as casinos around the world, were forced to close to ensure the safety of the community. However, the tribal Four Winds Casino in South Bend was the exception. While Indiana required its casinos to be closed last weekend, this casino continued to be open to customers.

Still, on Monday, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians announced a temporary closure to facilities in Northern Indiana. At the same time, three campuses in Michigan were closed Tuesday morning. Thus, a total of 4 casinos were closed in Midwestern.

Not outside of the frightening influence of COVID 19, in Washington state, the Spokane Tribe of Indians announced the closure of Spokane Casinos and the Chewelah Casino on Tuesday. The expected downtime is about two weeks. And of course, all employees will be paid during this time. There are rumors that Chewelah is planning to launch an online casino games platform. We will check those rumors and will keep you updated!
